Tullow Ghana Shares Strategic Plans with Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy, chaired by the Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Bedzrah, recently held a working visit to the offshore operations of Tullow Ghana, including the Jubilee and TEN oil fields in Ghana’s Western Region.

The delegation received detailed briefings and toured key facilities as part of efforts to better understand Tullow’s contribution to Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

Tullow Ghana outlined several strategic initiatives aimed at increasing investment and long-term value for Ghana. Among the plans: reducing operating costs at the TEN field, unlocking more than 200 billion cubic feet of gas, and securing a long-term gas sales agreement backed by a payment-security guarantee.

The company also highlighted the significance of extending existing licences and undertaking subsea and facility upgrades that could drive about US$2 billion in new investment and generate over US$900 million in additional state revenue.

In addition, Tullow emphasised its sustainability efforts, including investments exceeding US$40 million in decarbonising offshore operations and its aim to reach net-zero emissions by 2030.

The committee toured the TEN FPSO production facility, gas-compression plant, and off-loading tanker operations, and engaged with Tullow’s management and government agency representatives.

The visit further included inspections of community education projects. Over the past five years, Tullow has invested around US$10 million in school infrastructure, including new kindergarten units in seven coastal districts and dormitories for senior high schools.

Lawmakers praised the company’s performance and the rising employment of Ghanaians in offshore roles, underscoring the value of supporting frameworks and policies that advance sustainable development of the country’s petroleum resources.
